Talacre Beach Caravan Sales & Leisure Park office and Restaurant on Monday, February 21st 2011
The North Wales Paranormal Group had been asked to come in and investigate paranormal activity that had been experienced by staff members in the Office and Restaurant area at Talacre Beach Leisure Park. Over a number of years many have witnessed dark shadows and a figure walking down the corridor and then suddenly disappear through a wall, knocks, bangs and other paranormal phenomena. The office and restaurant area is itself believed to be haunted and reports of various paranormal activities have been received even in recent times.
Many people describe their place of employment as a horror story, some try to claim it's the work of a ghost. Maybe the spirits have decided that spooky mansions and creepy battlefields and old castles are passé. Maybe they want to cash in on the glamour of corporate life. Ghosts, it seems are not often spotted in modern offices. Paranormal investigators offer several theories as to why ghosts might not like new buildings' "environmental conditions"--such as metal and concrete construction or fluorescent lights, ghosts hang out in places that had a high emotional content--not that offices aren't the site of strong emotions. Lingering spirits seem to turn up a lot at restaurants and are quite often seen sitting at a table when customers have left and the staff are clearing up. If you think your office is haunted, remember that not every strange sound or spilled coffee can be attributed to ghosts. Don't jump to blame your computer problems on them either; if you're running Windows, you have a much bigger problem than ghosts. The best way to decide whether a building is haunted is to try to find original, independent witnesses and interview them. Find people who reported things before the building gained its reputation. Look for similarities between the witness accounts. If there are consistent factors between such reports it indicates that something is producing them, whether it is 'normal' or 'paranormal'. Such a location would then warrant a full investigation.
Talacre
Talacre is a village in Flintshire on the North Wales coast with large holiday caravan parks adjacent. It is near Point of Ayr on the west side of the River Dee estuary and has a sandy beach with dunes. The hills of the Clwydian Range behind the village form the eastern boundary of the Vale of Clwyd. The name Talacre is a combination of the Welsh words tal, meaning end, and acrau, meaning acres. In the north-east Welsh dialect, acrau is pronounced as acre.
The village is probably most popular for the lighthouse on the nearby beach and the Talacre Beach Caravan Park, a short walk away from the Presthaven Sands holiday park. The lighthouse has been noted for numerous ghostly sightings, people claiming to see a figure wearing old fashioned lighthouse keeper clothes and standing in front of the glass dome of the abandoned lighthouse.
Talacre was used by the military during World War II as an aircraft firing range. Fighters flew over the remote village every day, shooting at wooden targets in the dunes and at drogues towed by aircraft. It was also used for testing new devices, such as "window" the anti-radar foil that, on occasion, covered the whole village with slivers of silver foil.
Spirits
Spirits are usually drawn to someone or something that reminds them of when they were alive. Something they perhaps feel safe around. You can't see them unless they come close to you, then either your third eye - spiritual eye opens to see, or they connect themselves to one of your senses to smell, see, feel, hear, or even touch them.
One of the main things to do first is to be open to the spiritual world, and know that all things are possible in the spiritual world.
A spirit will often try to communicate in several ways, they will gesture, mouth words, generated words using ambient sounds and communicate on a telepathic level. By paying attention to what they do and say you can often get very clear pictures of what it is they wish to tell you. It takes no special skill, being more like talking with a small child that does not know how to speak yet, but will manage to make their needs known regardless, of some supernatural ability.
If you keep you mind very clear, you will be able to pick up the impressions that the ghosts, spirit or entity is trying to send you. Remember that even though some entities will try to frighten you, they have no real power over you. In fact you are far more powerful, having a body to generate useful energy to perform the task at hand, as well as having the ability to use environmental energy like they do. Don't let them intimidate you. This is the main reason for being well shielded at the beginning of any Paranormal Investigation. Not so much for protection as you rarely need it, but to prevent fear from entering your mind. Before starting any Paranormal Investigation we always use protection and one of the best methods is to imagine an egg shaped sphere around you full of a brilliant white light that nothing can penetrate. Hold in your mind the idea, the concept, of this shield keeping you safe from all intrusive energy that may be present. Feel secure in your shielding; it will protect you from harm.
Ghosts or haunted locations aren't scary during the day because during the day you are confident of your abilities to perceive danger, but when night falls and you are alone in the dark it becomes a different story, your imagination can sometimes run wild, especially if you are alone in a reported haunted location. Even many seasoned ghost investigators have been known to run like scared rabbits when they see or even hear something unexpected. "In many cultures and religions around the world, ghosts are thought to harbor ill will towards the living. This is unfortunate, since the evidence from thousands of cases...suggests that people don't change their personalities or motivation after death... nor do they turn evil." The true behavior of ghosts, as evidenced by many thousands of investigations and case studies conducted by paranormal experts, overwhelmingly contradicts the common idea that they are to be feared.
Knocks on walls, objects thrown about by unseen hands, furniture moved around by the invisible entity, water dripping inexplicably from ceilings where no pipes are hidden, even small fires breaking out. These are classic manifestations of what has become known as poltergeist activity. Poltergeist agents are very often adolescents, but not always. It seems true that some adolescents under the combined stresses of growing up and the hormonal changes occurring during puberty can produce poltergeist activity, but adults under stress can be agents as well - especially, perhaps, if they have unresolved stresses from childhood.
It is unknown how common poltergeist activity is. Certainly, remarkable cases in which household objects are tossed about are relatively rare. But those are the cases that get attention and are documented simply because they are remarkable, especially if the activity persists over many days, weeks or months. There may be many more cases, however, that occur just once or on rare occasions to people. A child furious with his parents storms into his room and a picture flies off the wall. A couple having a heated argument is interrupted by a pot inexplicably falling to the floor. These and a thousand other possible scenarios could be taking place all the time to temporary poltergeist agents, but are dismissed as coincidence or with some other rational explanation. (Indeed, in many instances it might be just coincidence or have another rational explanation; the point is, we don't know.)

The Investigation
Thankfully we don't come across cases like this too often in our work as paranormal investigators. As soon as our medium entered the location he was aware of a young girl aged between 7 and 8 standing dripping wet by the doors to the indoor swimming pool. She looked upset and totally confused. This scene upset him so much that it was sometime before he could gather his senses in order to carry on. Children are not supposed to die...Parents expect to see their children grow and mature. Ultimately, parents expect to die and leave their children behind...This is the natural course of life events, the life cycle continuing as it should. The loss of a child is the loss of innocence, the death of the most vulnerable and dependent. The death of a child signifies the loss of the future, of hopes and dreams, of new strength, and of perfection.
Bereaved parents continue to be parents of the child who died. They will always feel the empty place in their hearts caused by the child's death; they were, and always will be, the loving father and mother of that child. Yet, these parents have to accept that they will never be able to live their lives with or share their love openly with the child. So they must find ways to hold on to the memories. Many bereaved parents come to learn that "memories are the precious gifts of the heart...[that they need] these memories and whispers, to help create a sense of inner peace, a closeness"
Jim performed a baseline test in all the rooms with the K2 meter to see if there were any fluctuations or disturbances in the electro magnetic field.
The investigation got underway with our medium, staff members and group members in the bar area, all the lights were switched off and our medium attempted to communicate with any spirits that might be present in the building. The main concern was to find out more about the little girl and help her move on. He said that she was Asian and gave her name as possibly Soujin, unfortunately the spelling for her Christian name was slightly wrong, it was later found to be Seojin, but close enough. He gave her Surname as Kim and this was indeed correct. She told our medium that she lived with her family in Birmingham and that her father was involved with the manufacture of Kia cars. The family had originally come from Seoul in South Korea. The medium did say that the little girl had been at the Park for only a short while. Anne the manageress said that the family had only been there for a matter of hours before the tragedy unfolded. Although they tried desperately to save her life at the side of the pool she was pronounced dead on arrival at the local hospital, our medium felt that she had died in the pool. He then became aware of two other spirits, a woman and a man, neither spirit was grounded and both came back regularly in visitation, they would be the cause for all the activity being experienced in the Office, restaurant and the pool table room on the upper floor but they had been nice people in life and they remained the same in spirit. The lady gave her name as Lydia Taylor born in 1915 she owned a shop close by and our medium said that it was probably a fish and chip shop because she was putting the aroma of fish and chips on him. One of the staff members said that he had been smelling fish and chips since he had entered the room earlier. Lydia gave her age as 71 which meant she must have passed over sometime in 1986.
The man gave his name as Joseph Tynan again thought to have been born around 1915. He had run or owned a bakery close to the complex; he had passed over aged between 60 and 70 from a heart attack. He and Lydia had known each other in life and their shops must have been close to one another. He gave the name "Warren" however our medium had no idea what or who he was referring to. A couple of the staff members said that the Warren was a complex of 'shanty' houses along the sand dunes during the 50's and late sixties, apparently there was no running water, no electricity and no toilets. The Warren was destroyed when a high tide surge linked with a storm washed most of the shacks away; the remaining shacks were dismantled in 1971.
Lorraine and Tim entered the pool room on the upper floor to try and catch any paranormal activity on a DVD camera and EVP's on a digital voice recorder. EVP collection can be simple or more complex. Some ghost investigators prefer to ask questions, allowing time in-between for ghosts or spirits to answer. Others prefer to lay their audio recordings down and not ask questions. Sometimes, ghosts will speak during the middle of conversations. There are no rules. They set up a trigger object in the hope that a spirit would move it. On returning to the room some time later they noticed that chairs had moved from the positions they had been in earlier and no one had been in the room while they had been away, everyone had been accounted for. Andrea a paranormal investigator had her arm scratched, but by whom we don't know.
Table Tipping
The table tipping proved successful when it vibrated and moved slightly when questions were asked, however it was a rather heavy table even for spirits to move.
Séance
Although partially successful no extra information came through just personal messages to questions asked and answered with a "Yes" and "No" for those sitting around the table.
Ouija Board
The Ouija board was used by the group and a number of staff members and one male member in particular had a name spelt out with personal message from a close friend that had passed over, the experience had been so overwhelming he became emotional and tearful. He later said "Although upsetting it was a fantastic experience"
While this was going on Lorraine one of our paranormal investigators tried automatic writing, or psychography. Automatic writing is an old form of divination in which messages seem to come out of nowhere through your hand and onto paper. She wrote down the name Frank, who was a friend of one of the staff who had passed over a few years earlier. Although not grounded Lydia and Joe were asked if they could help in assisting the little girl to cross over to the light when the time came and they spelt out "Yes" they would.
Lorraine again tried automatic writing in a room next to the pool and it looked like she had placed figures in locations around the pool area that represented those involved in trying to save the little girl on that fateful day.
Before leaving the only thing left to do was to send little Seojin over to the light. Although her parents are still alive she would be welcomed with open arms by all her relatives waiting for her on the other side.
Anne who had been on duty on the day of the tragedy joined the group. The group then formed a circle and our medium opened a portal or doorway to the other side for Joseph, Lydia and Seojin to walk through. With Lydia holding her hand they entered the light, the portal was then closed.
We Would like to thank Anne Foulkes for the hospitality shown to our group during the night's investigation.
