Paranormal Investigation at an Undisclosed Location of Wrexham
The Group had been contacted by a family in the Wrexham area; the mother was becoming increasing worried by what she believed was aggressive paranormal activity directed toward them. The activity seemed to be focusing mainly on her 18 year old daughter; her bedroom was the epicentre of all the phenomena that was occurring and especially a closet area in the girl’s
bedroom and close to the bed where a very loud bang had been heard.
The family have lived at the house for nearly two years and have always felt that the house was haunted. But over the past few weeks the activity had increased and they were now becoming increasingly concerned for their safety ever since the girl had been scratched.
This type of phenomena is consistent with poltergeist activity, furniture moving, knocks and loud bangs, footsteps heard on the stairs all night and the girl had her name called out.
This is a spirit, usually mischievous and occasionally malevolent, which manifests its presence by making noises, moving objects, and assaulting people. The term "poltergeist" comes from the German poltern, "to knock," and geist, "spirit." Some cases of poltergeists that remain unexplained and may involve actual spirits. In other cases the phenomena may be produced by subconscious psychokinesis (PK) on the part of an individual. Included in the most common types of poltergeist activities are the rains of stones, dirt, and other small objects; moving or throwing of objects, including large pieces of furniture; loud noises and shrieks; and vile smells. It seems that poltergeists have adapted to the development of technology. They are known to have caused interference in telephones and electronic equipment, and turning lights and appliances on and off. Some poltergeists are said to pinch, bite, hit, and sexually attack the living. Generally poltergeist activity starts and stops abruptly. The duration of it may extend over several hours to several months; however, some cases have been reported to last over several years. The activity almost always occurs at night when someone is present. Typically this is the "agent," an individual who seems to serve as a focus or magnet for the activity. In most cases the agent is a factor, both those that seem paranormal or that may be caused by human PK. The agent is usually female and under the age of twenty.
I believe that poltergeists are lost and degraded spirits. For whatever reason (be it a long amount of elapsed time since death, trauma during death, highly emotional state during death, or having been tampered with by the living) poltergeist can no longer remember who or what they are. It is a tortured state of existence and it doesn't take much to send them into a frenzy. Poltergeists can become physically violent (though this is true of all spirits) and are difficult to reason with simply because they do not respond as a sentient, fully-aware spirit can.
Spiritual symbols (be they crosses, idols, bits of the natural world, etc) are simply that--symbols. The meanings of symbols are deeply ingrained into our psyches as human beings, however, not all spirits respond to the same symbols. A spirit that comes from a part of the world where Christianity is absent will not respond to a crucifix or holy water. These items have no physical effect on the dead--they have no physical bodies to react with--but may trigger some memory of a revered symbol and cause them to react appropriately. "Demonic" possessions, for example, claim to have no respect for the Church, but can be driven off with Holy relics. It is my opinion that these relics do not, in it of themselves, have any kind of mystical power, but instead trigger a psychological effect in the invading spiritual presence (I hate saying "demonic," as I don't believe in "demons" in the Biblical sense). All ghosts have are their memories and most are so caught up in them that they pay little attention to the living. If you believe that you have a poltergeist or a mischievous spirit in your home or even your business premises, I would suggest you call in the North Wales Paranormal Group first, however if you feel that this would be only a last resort, then I suggest you try the following.
(1) Get rid of any object that the poltergeist seems to communicate through, for some reason, these fractured spirits may have chosen it as it's method of "communicating" with you. If you don't want it to continue, remove the line of communication.
(2) Find out the history of your house. Because most spirits cannot free themselves from a cycle of reliving their memories, they tend to cling to places where there were strong emotional attachments during the years they were alive. If something tragic happened on your property, it is important to understand what it was so you can better deal with the poltergeist.
(3) Most poltergeists don't know they're dead, or even what they are. I've heard that re-educating a poltergeist can be effective if the spirit is receptive.
(4) Always stay calm when it acts up. Poltergeist, like any spirit, feed off of heightened emotions--it's why they seem to enjoy frightening people so much. The more irrational our behavior becomes, the more irrational -their- behavior becomes.
(5) Do not call attention to the poltergeist. The same theory as the one stated above applies here as well. The more attention you give it, the more energy it will siphon from you and the more encouraged it will feel to continue.
(6) Find a symbol (religious, magical, mystical, etc) that you are comfortable with and that you "believe" in. The psychological energy you put behind that symbol will send a clear message to the poltergeist: You are not to be trifled with.
(7) When you are ready, and when you feel you can control your own fear and emotions, calmly confront the poltergeist. Explain the situation: You were alive once, but you are dead now. It is time for you to leave this place and move on.
Remember, all spirits are in some degree of pain, even the "nice" ones. There is nothing more devastating than feeling an absence of both life and eternal rest. These beings are caught in the in-between. They are easily confused, lost, and trying to figure out what has happened to them.
Think of poltergeist and spirits that move furniture around. Most hauntings spike in activity during moves or major remodeling of a home. The house has had a recent loft conversion done, which might be the cause for the increase in paranormal activity. Spirits are stuck in their pasts and it is disturbing to them when an environment they're used to is suddenly changed. Most don't realise they're dead and for those of us (un)lucky enough to interact with them, it's our duty to help them as best we can.
The Investigation
Our medium had done is walk about a few days prior to the investigation, and felt that this was a male spirit that had occupied the house in the 1920’s and that there was something not quite right with him, he felt that this man had probably suffered with some sort of mental disorder, and felt he had committed suicide. The family had no idea when the street had been built, so some investigation work was done by the group which showed it was actually built in 1900 with most of the houses being occupied by 1902.
Since the house has had a recent loft conversion done, I believe it has stirred up an increase in paranormal activity and therefore caused an increasing spike in physical aggression towards the family.
Both of the groups mediums joined forces for this investigation, they entered the girl’s bedroom and focused on the closet area in an attempt to draw this disturbed spirit out. One of the mediums picked up on the name of this man, Euwart Evans; I must admit I had never heard this Christian name before. Euwart had allegedly suffered a severe head injury while employed at the Bersham Iron Works and in a state of depression aligned with his mental disorder had hanged himself in the attic area. One of our investigators decided to be shut in the closet with a K2 meter. The K2 meter uses lights to indicate the energy instead of a needle, flashing and then finally staying lit if a spirit is close. An EVP recorder was also used, Electronic Voice Phenomena is what we call capturing the voices of the dead with an audio recorder, either audio tape or digital format, simple, but very effective.
Trigger objects had been placed in the attic and bedroom but nothing moved.
The Ouija Board was used by the group, but neither medium used the board, the remaining investigators asked questions of Euwart Evans.
Euwart was born in 1910 at this location, his accident occurred in 1928 which of course meant that he was allegedly 18 years old when he died. He was asked to give his mothers name and he replied “Amanda”. He was asked if he realised he was frightening the family and he replied “Sorry” Euwart was asked if he wanted to be sent over to the light and if he wanted to see his mother again and he replied “Yes”
All the group and family moved to the girl’s bedroom, one of the mediums called for his mother to come and collect Euwart and he walked over to the light with an arm around his mother with the farewell words, “Thank you”
There are spirits who commit suicide like Euwart Evans they cannot forgive themselves. The shame and guilt he felt made him feel unworthy of going into the light. He was very much in a state of limbo. He was locked into his actions, a spirit who did not realise he was dead because the reality of what he had done. I felt very sad for this 18 year old man, who was the same age as the girl who was now living there. We had talked to him about happier times in his life to lift his vibration so we could get through to him more easily. Many suicides release easily and go into the loving light and are completely whole again.
First there are the spirits that choose not to cross over at all. These are the spirits who cling to this plane, ignoring the call of the light, or perhaps they don’t see the light at all. These are often people who have done something so negative in their lives that they fear judgment, so do not cross into the light because they think they are going straight to Hell. If you thought you were headed for eternal damnation would you be in a hurry to get there? I thought not. They feed off of your energy to cling to this plane.
Sometimes a person dies so suddenly or unexpectedly that they simply don’t realise they are dead. They don’t see the light because they are totally focused on figuring out what happened to them. Eventually they figure it out. Either their own funeral finally drives the point home, or a friendly angel or spirit comes and gets them. Still, if you find yourself waking up in a morgue you might question whether you’re dead and look for the light. It might save you some time.
The next group are those spirits that are hovering. These spirits know they are dead and are planning to cross over wholly but are still very attached to their loved ones here on Earth. They cannot go on completely because the grief of the people they’ve left behind holds their energy here, like a tether. Or sometimes it’s a husband waiting for his wife to pass so they can cross over together. Or a grandmother waiting to see her grandchild safely born. Often this is someone who has too much left unsaid or undone and they can’t go on until they get the message to their loved one. This is a job for a medium. Getting important messages to loved ones frees the spirit to move on. They are usually recently deceased or there were many tangled, loose ends in their life that they really want to tie up before they cross over.
